Document architecture

Thesis and dissertation formatting

Manual Word formatting that maps your institution’s current guide to the complete document—from styles and section breaks to tables, appendices and the final PDF check.

Why it matters

A long academic document needs a stable system, not a collection of visual fixes.

Theses often combine front matter, multiple numbering systems, complex heading hierarchies, automatic lists, tables, figures, references and appendices. When these elements are repaired one by one, a small change can disrupt the whole file. AcademicFix first reviews the institution’s current guide, then applies a consistent Word structure and records any point that requires an author or graduate-school decision.

01

Institution-specific compliance

Margins, order of sections, heading rules, pagination and required lists are checked against the named institution’s guide rather than a generic template.

02

Stable Word structure

Styles, section breaks and automatic fields reduce the risk that later edits will damage numbering, contents pages or document hierarchy.

03

Safer final submission

A separate preflight check makes visible layout shifts, broken references and PDF conversion issues before the file is submitted.

Baseline service

What the formatting review covers

The baseline scope applies to a workable thesis or dissertation of up to 150 pages. The institution guide, file condition and number of complex elements determine the final written quote.

01

Institution-guide requirements map

The current thesis guide is translated into a file-specific checklist covering document order, page setup, typography and required components.

02

Word styles and heading hierarchy

Title levels, body text, quotations, lists and other recurring elements are organized with consistent, maintainable Word styles.

03

Section breaks and pagination

Front matter and main text are separated correctly; page-number formats, restarts, headers and footers are aligned with the guide.

04

Automatic contents and lists

The table of contents and applicable lists of tables, figures or abbreviations are refreshed and linked to the document structure.

05

Tables, figures and captions

Placement, numbering, titles, notes, captions and visible cross-references are checked for consistency and guide compliance.

06

References, appendices and PDF preflight

Reference-page formatting, appendix structure and the final document flow are checked before an agreed PDF-ready version is prepared.

SCOPE

Starting scope and pricing

The $129 starting price applies to a workable document of up to 150 pages with a supplied institution guide. Extensive file corruption, numerous tables, figures or equations, major reference restructuring, unusual template requirements or a shorter schedule can change the quote. The exact scope and total are approved in writing before work begins.

Questions before you enquire

FAQ

Do I need to provide my institution’s thesis guide?

Yes, for institution-specific compliance. If the current official guide is publicly accessible, its link can be supplied; any department-specific instructions should also be shared.

Can you repair a badly damaged Word file?

Often, but the file must be assessed first. Severe style corruption, manual numbering and unstable section breaks may require reconstruction beyond the baseline scope.

Does thesis formatting include APA and DOI verification?

Reference-page formatting can be included. Source-by-source APA 7 and DOI verification is a separate reference-integrity scope and is stated explicitly in the proposal.

Can you help during the final week before submission?

Subject to capacity. Short schedules are accepted only when the file can be reviewed responsibly; availability and any schedule adjustment are explained before approval.
